The new Persistance award , an innovation of our club has been a great success at all the end of teh year school presentations. The award comes with $100.00 book voucher and a certificate. the ward is awarded to the student at each of the four primary schools who have tried hard throughout the year but have not received any recognition. It is in many ways an encouragement award. The awards saw smiles and parents in tears of joy. This year (2009) was the inaugural awards. Theawards were appreciated by the all the school principals.
Our club continues to assist the Mens Shed. This year we donated $800.00 to the shed to assit in purchasing tools for the men to use in making and repairing equipment. The club invited Rod and Robbie to the shed to see the equipment in use. the shed purchased a new wood lathe, and some power tools.
In March 2010, the Mens Shed had a BBQ and invited the Bargara Rotary Club to dinner. The BBQ was well attended with partners. The men took the opportunity to inform the club of what projects they were undertaking and displayed the lathe and drills they purchased with the rotary donation. The men have been busy making wooden toys for children that will be handed to needy kids by the mens shed and Rotary in August this year.
