Youth Services
Rotary Club of Bargara
The club continues to award four schools in the area with the 'Youth Achievment Awards' for the schools in the Bargara area,  The principal criteria for these awards is achievment. However the guidelines request that scholastic excellence and sporting acheivments be disregarded.  The criteria is directed towards behavioural standards, attitute, leadership qualities, conduct, and community service,
In 2009, the club initiated a new award for schools around the Bargara area.  This award has been named the "Persitence Award" and is aimed at students who have displayed effort and persitence in their academic year.  These students  are not always high academic acheivers but are students that are recognised as placing effort and persitence in their school work.  The student is awarded a $100.00  book gift voucher and a certificate.
In 2010 the club launced a pilot study involving two schools.  The pilot involves a film festival where students create a short film no longer than 11 minutes in duration,  At the end of the year the schools come together along with parents and Rotarians where each film is displayeand awards are given for best film.  The club will evaluate the project with a veiw of implmenting the project in the wider Bargara - Bundaberg area.
